About the Owner
Before re-opening Silvertron Cafe in the Fall of 2007, Marco Morosini became a familiar face to Birmingham diners as manager of some other local favorites such as The Grape, Nonna Rose, and Standard Bistro. Some locals even know Marco from 30 Degrees Blue in the Marriot Resort in Panama City, Florida.
Marco was lured to the deep south by his bride who met him managing a charming little Italian trattoria on Union Street in San Francisco - and she married him when he became the GM at the swank Grand Cafe in the Hotel Monaco.
Marco fell in love with the restaurant business as a teen, and knows every aspect of the business because he worked his way up through the ranks in San Francisco, Paris and in his hometown of Bergamo, Italy. So, yes, the accent is the real deal.
Aside from learning every job inside and out in the restaurant business and the languages of the countries he has lived in, Marco has also studied wine at each stop along the way. Deeply interested in and passionate about wines, Marco loves to guide his customers in selecting just the right glass or bottle.
An advocate for and supporter of the community which supports him, Marco has created Movies in Avondale Park, a free family summer movie series, brought the Alabama Symphony Orchestra back to Avondale Park for free spring concerts, and built Heart to Table, a program bringing together locally owned restaurants to serve the homeless at Boutwell Auditorium Warming Station openings in the winter.
Good food, the perfect glass of wine and community. Welcome to all that is Silvertron Cafe.
